Ventus smiled, "Well, we mostly grow crops. A lot of land means a lot of food, and there's always a need for food. Majority of the farm's turned into wheat, rice, the average stuff, but my aunt had a lot of grapes, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, gyshal greens, you know, upper class food; I turned some of those into wheat now, because Chaos asked for more food rations for his soldiers. Besides that, I also know a few alchemists who turn some of the herbs and leaves into ethers and stuff, so, money there too, not sure what to do with it."
He smiled at Kain, "Anyway, you're a guest, I can get you something to eat, maybe a bath? What else can I do?"

Kain nodded. Interesting enough. Sounds like a busy place no doubt.
"Something to eat sounds excellent," he said. The dragoon inwardly kicked himself for his lack of manners, but when you've lived on your own for while you sort of forget social etiquette...well you forgot a lot of things when it came to people. "Thank you," he added quickly trying to redeem himself and feeling like a complete idiot.

"No need to thank me, you did save my life, after all." He caught sight of a servant girl on her way to the kitchen and shortly interrupted her. She seemed unbothered by her master, as if it was a nice and pleasant conversation - not something seen in the era of discord; usually, servants feared their masters.
He turned back to Kain, "Food'll be ready in twentyish-minutes, is there anything I can get you while waiting? A drink? A bath? You can get out of that armor if you want - I won't force you too, though; some people always want their armor on - I get it. But, at least the helmet, right?"

And yet once again, Kain was caught off guard by the boy's kindness. It had been a very long time since he'd seen behavior like that...really too long since then...
"I wouldn't might taking off some of this armor," he replied. Well, it did get heavy after while. Though he was quite use to it by now it was still uncomfortable at times. He quickly and easily removed his helmet and shook the loose bangs from his eyes...Suddenly he felt a little awkward. He wasn't use to showing his face in public or, at least, to other people.

When Kain un-helmeted himself (and yes, he did consider that a verb), the blond smiled. "If you want, I can ask a maid to take care of your armor. No need to carry it around, unless you want to."
Ven smiled.

Kain didn't want to be a pest to the maids, but he didn't want to carry everything around with him either, so he simply nodded. He felt a little unnerved that Ventus was smiling. Why was he smiling anyway?
He raised an eyebrow at him, "What?" If it was something he did, Kain wanted to know, but if he was just happy then Ventus must have been some kind of lunatic. There wasn't much reason to be happy. Not under Chaos's rule.

"What, what?"

"Oh, I, euh...nevermind. With the look you were giving me I thought I might have done something wrong," he stated not sure whether or not he had phrased that correctly. How embarrassing...he could've kicked himself for his incompetence.
